TGSSH is a Not-for-Profit faith-based mission hospital which was built as an affiliate of the Enugu diocese of the Anglican communion, under the leadership of His Grace, Most. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel O. Chukwuma (OON).
It was dedicated on August 31st, 2005, by His Lordship, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel O. Chukwuma OON (The Anglican Bishop of Enugu). Before then, the Anglican Diocese of Enugu has a Jubilee maternity home at Asata Enugu which started in 1945. Following the dedication, the maternity became an annex of TGSSH.
The Diocese of Enugu, Anglican Communion, under the Leadership of His Grace, Most Rev Dr Emmanuel O. Chukwuma (OON), conceived the idea of establishing this health facility to ameliorate the health issues of the people in the Eastern region of Nigeria and to assist indigent citizens to enjoy state-of-the-art medical facilities and care without having any need for medical tourism.
The Diocesan Medical Board (DMB) in collaboration with the management through the support of the diocese and the proprietor, Most Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma has made the hospital take a quantum jump in its growth despite some internal challenges.
Currently, the hospital has a hospital staff strength of about 200, about 20 visiting consultants in different medical specialties and about sixty beds for admissions. It also provides health services 24 hours a day and every day of the week, including public holidays.
